Midwife

Doula working with pregnant woman in living room. Preparation for child birth

A midwife is a licensed healthcare provider who supports healthy women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Although most midwives can deliver babies in a hospital, they can also do it at birthing centers or at clients' homes.

Typically, women who select midwives seek very little medical intervention and had a straightforward pregnancy. Many doctors advise against having a midwife unless she is directly supervised by a doctor because giving birth to twins is trickier than giving birth to a single kid.
